The product:
Distributed electronic system for accurately monitoring the level of flammable
liquids in tankers and barges. Turns on alarms when level is too high.
Our customer's need:
Design it, keeping it intrinsically safe.
Our solution:
Design a central unit which communicates with a deck-top unit at each of the
tanks on a barge or tanker. Use a single-board computer at the central unit, and use
embedded controllers at each of the deck-top units. Central unit allows user to
program in operating parameters and to scan the levels of all tanks. Deck-top units
measure the liquid level using a 15-bit A/D. Display level on an LCD display and
communicate with the central unit via a differential wire pair.
Our involvement:
We designed the electronics for the decktop units and wrote the firmware for both
the central unit and the decktop units. Providing support since 1992.
